COURSE DESCRIPTION

Rockwell SLC-500 Advanced Interface (AI) programming software is a personal computer (PC) application that allows you to program, monitor, troubleshoot, and document your Allen-Bradley SLC-500 programmable controller systems. All of the features available for online and offline programming, database reporting, and use of the program utilities are covered with appropriate hands-on lab assignments.

COURSE OBJECTIVES
Understand Rockwell Advanced Interface built-in DOS utilities.
Review system addressing and I/O addressing as it applies to the AI software.
Learn how to configure the various components of the AI software: communication, display, printer, and environment, for example.
Understand the difference between online and offline programming.
Upload and download existing control programs to and from your SLC-500.
Document programs, data table files, rungs, data table addresses, attach mnemonic descriptors, wire tag numbers and locations, comments, and maintenance notes to your SLC-500 program.
Discover how to use the AI software to document physical hardware layout, including module model numbers and physical locations.
Use the revision history feature to document changes to a program over time.
Identify used and unused data table addresses with ease.
Block and cut or copy portions of your program; edit, name, and save these portions; recall them for future use in other programs.
Edit your programs using search and replace functions.
Create custom reference screens, save these screens, and then recall them.
Use keyboard macro features to develop shortcuts to multiple keystroke operations.
Create page titles to organize your program into logical sections, name these sections, set up an index, and then easily move in and out of these sections and back to the index.
Implement the search utility to find references and locate logic.
Set up timing charts and trends that allow you to plot multiple discrete signals against time.
Attach directly to the SLC-500 to monitor and/or perform online programming, documentation, and troubleshooting.
Compare an archived program against the current running program to detect subtle changes (perhaps unauthorized changes) that may have occurred.
Use the system’s password and logging features to control access to your programs.
Explore the system health and diagnostic features of the AI software.
Print out documented programs and learn how to customize your documents.
