ProWORX Nxt for Modicon software is a Windows 3.1/95/NT application program
that allows the user to program, monitor, troubleshoot, and document Modicon
programmable controller systems. If you were a previous user of a DOS
based programming software package, then the effective use of ProWORX
Nxt for Modicon software requires a basic understanding of Windows based
software concepts.
This course provides an overview of the Windows fundamentals and identifies
the differences in functionality to DOS based software programming packages.
The features, functions, and capabilities of the software are explained
in relationship to programming, documenting, and troubleshooting your
Modicon programmable controllers.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
Understand the major functional components of ProWORX Nxt for Modicon
software and how these components are integrated to form a programming and
troubleshooting software system.
Learn where the software is loaded on the hard drive, and take precautions
in working with these locations.
Create, edit, and modify the programmable controller's program, both online
and offline.
Complete controller configuration for the processor, remote processor,
distributed I/O, terminal I/O, and hot standby. (Quantum, TSX Quantum, Momentum,
and 984 family of controllers.)
Understand the ProWORX Nxt database file structure, and learn to use the
backup and restore database commands for compressing a copy of all files
to a single ZIP database file.
Install the software on a computer and configure it to communicate with
Modicon programmable controllers. (Modbus and Modbus Plus communications.)
Read and write existing control programs to and from the Modicon controller
to a database file.
Edit programs using the network editor features: search, search-and-replace,
and cut-and-paste, etc.
Explore the use of the data watch window for troubleshooting and monitoring
program functionality.
Learn to use the built-in Help screens for programming and diagnostics.
Document programs, attaching mnemonic descriptors, wire tag numbers and
locations, long comments, short comments, and maintenance notes to Modicon
programs.
Attach directly to the programmable controller to monitor and perform
online programming, documenting, and troubleshooting.
