COURSE DESCRIPTION

ProWORX Plus for Modicon software is a DOS based, personal computer (PC) application program that allows the user to program, monitor, troubleshoot, and document Modicon programmable controller systems.

To effectively use the ProWORX Plus for Modicon software (or any other software application), one must first understand the basic concepts as they apply to the personal computers. This course provides the personal computer fundamentals necessary to understand ProWORX Plus software. The features, functions, and capabilities of ProWORX Plus are explained in relationship to programming, documenting, and troubleshooting Modicon programmable controllers.

COURSE OBJECTIVES
•	Understand the major functional components of ProWORX Plus for Modicon software and how these components are integrated to form a programming and troubleshooting software system.
•	Learn where the software is loaded on the hard drive, and take precautions in working with these locations.
•	Create, edit, and modify the programmable controller's program, both online and offline.
•	Understand the limitations that the PC's operating system places on the ProWORX Plus program.
•	Understand the ProWORX Plus database file structure, and learn to create and use the file utility commands for copying, comparing, erasing, verifying, creating, and editing the databases.
•	Install the software on a computer and configure it to communicate with Modicon programmable controllers.
•	Load existing control programs to and from the Modicon controller and other personal computers.
•	Edit programs using search, search-and-replace, and cut-and-paste features.
•	Learn to use the built-in operations and Modicon programming Help screens.
•	Document programs, attaching mnemonic descriptors, wire tag numbers and locations, long comments, short comments, and maintenance notes to Modicon programs.
•	Attach directly to the programmable controller to monitor and perform online programming, documenting, and troubleshooting.
•	Learn to use system diagnostic features and shortcut key functions.
•	Compile and print documented programs and drawings for input/output modules.
