Bios Password Recovery Solution
I have not verified whether this procedure will work. However, if you find yourself with a lost bios password this procedure could be a vital so I have decided to post it here.
Use this procedure at your own risk. I am not responsible if you convert your laptop into a paper weight by using this procedure.
The following procedure was provided to me by another user.
I just un-puzzled how to unlock the bios password in my Sony Vaio pcg-FX210 I think some readers con find this useful.
1) As the bios was set to boot from HD I had to remove the hard drive.
2) I flashed back the oldest bios I could find R0102K5 http://myplc.com/sony/Bios.htm#Bios%20version%20R0102K5 . I don't know if that had anything to do.
After this point the password was still present.
3) I used cmospwd 4.6 ( http://www.cgsecurity.org/index.html?cmospwd.html )with the kill option. My deepest thanks Christopher
4) Then followed Used cmospwd 4.6 instructions as follows: What to do if you can't use cmospwd to clear your cmos ? You can use debug to reset cmos CRC stored at 0x2E-0x2F debug -o 70 2E -o 71 0 -q
5) Then checked that the cmos dump changed from the original, using cmospwd /d
6) Then cmospwd /k.
I donīt know which steps are really necessary but who cares if it works, that's o.k. for me.
Again use the above steps at your own risk
