Hello All,
This site was originally dedicated to those hardy souls that purchased a Sony PCG-FX210 or FX215 laptop and wanted it to perform to it's full potential under Windows 2000 (Win2K), Windows XP (WinXP) or some flavor of 'Nix (Linux, FreeBSD, etc...).
If you have just purchased one of these laptops off of Ebay, are planning to buy one of these laptops, or have received one of these laptops as a gift or hand-me-down I think you will find the information on this site invaluable.
The information on this site is directly applicable to the following AMD based Sony Vaio Laptop models. The dis-assembly information is also applicable to any of the FX models of Sony laptops.

One very nice feature of FX series of laptops is their upgradeability. Almost every major component is upgradeable including; CPU, Harddrive, CD/DVD Rom. My FX210 currently has;
Mobile Athlon 4 and Athlon XP processors
Bigger faster hard drives
A Toshiba SDR-2102 DVD/CD-RW combo drive in place of the original DVD drive.
I am always looking for new subject material so if you have any ideas feel free to volunteer them.
URL for Sony Factory Support.
Are you installing Linux on one of these laptops? If you are you need to check out the unix guide here, Markus' web page, detailing his experience with SuSe Linux on his FX405 and Andre's web page detailing his experience with an FX301 and Mandrake and SuSe.
With Respect to the FX210/FX215 laptops the following problems have been discussed and remedied thru this web site and the FX210 Yahoo Forum:
Poor to No Win2K and WinXP support
