The following info comes from Josh. Information pertains to WinXP RC1 Beta:

It installs, reboots, and gives a serious blue screen of death. Says something about hard drive controller not terminated correctly or try reinstalling last working hard disk controller. ...reboot and try again. do it again and get same thing. Some other things i have tryed is to use partition magic to kill the partition of the c and d drive. LMK if you can find out a logical reason for the XP problems.  It might have to come in an Sony Bios Update. Sony gave me coupon for xp upgrade so i am assuming they will support the os, The only thing I have not done is fdisk and reformat the hard drive and attempt a reinstall. Yes, XP is beta but I think this is on SOnys end.

Here is another piece of info regarding XP RC1 and the FX210. This info comes courtesy of Brian:

WinXP RC1 runs fantastic, never got a single bsod. I did a winXP install from a formatted drive and also upgraded over win2k, both flawless. KINDA :P that pcmcia slot is still boogered as in win2k, and I CAN NOT find a modem driver that will work with winXP for the life of me.. NOT one of the win2k drivers for that modem from any manufacturer will work properly :( sux0rz :( Thanks, Brian Bush

I am running winXP rc1 and it's great.. had to tweak a few settings but the only thing that will not work at all is the stupid modem :( and just like in win2k I have the issues w/ the one PCMCIA slot but I don't use or need them anyway ;P thank god.. BUT I REALLY WANT my modem to work!! Hehe Sony has not replied to my emails YET but I am still hoping.. if you hear anything let me know.. NO ISSUES at all running XP no install hiccups nothing loving it ;)
