WinXP drivers

January 13, 2002

These drivers are only for the FX series AMD based Sony Vaio Laptops. Do not use them with the new NV laptops.

The original posting of all these Drivers were from the Driver Recovery CD from a FXA32 Sony Vaio laptop.

Sony has since made all of the drivers available from their Sony North America Support Site. However, some people have had trouble using these drivers because they are wrapped inside InstallShield files. The InstallShield checks to see if the machine is a valid machine for the drivers and reports back, incorrectly, that the machine is not a valid machine. To solve this problem you can break the drivers out of the InstallShield CAB files and install directly. The utility used to break into the InstallShield CAB files is I6COMP  (available here ). Click here for a how-to on using i6comp. Furthermore, I have, due to requests, broke some of the drivers out of the InstallShield CAB files. They are identified below as No InstallShield.

As far as I can determine the hardware on the FXA32 and the FX210/215 laptops is the same, see comparison table

Again use these drivers at your own risk.

Bios Release: There are now nine (9) bioses that can be used with the FX/FXA series laptops.
